That would seem as a problem with iTunes, as your computer sees it (otherwise it wouldn't start the process). Like I said before, try reinstalling iTunes. I haven't a clue why it goes into recovering automatically (try looking in the options for something related, perhaps automatic syncing), so it looks like this may be a problem with your iTunes program.
