Personally I don't like anything below 192kbps. It probably depends on what headphones you use. If you are using stock headphones (the cheesy apple ones that came with your phone) you might be able to get away with less. My best recommendation is just take a song you know and love and make a few different bitrate recordings of it. Find what is the lowest bitrate tolerable to you and work from there.
