Auto On/Off App?

I used to have a blackberry and there was a really cool feature that you could set a time for your phone to shut off at night and turn on in the AM. It was really great for those nights you don't make it back to you phone charger and you have to get up early in the AM so my alarm would still go off. If i could code for these phones i would do it myself, but seeing that i can't wasn't sure if anyone might be interested in making a settings function for this...

That sounds like a good idea. I would use that.

I am not sure how it would work, but I imagine if you had backgrounder installed, then another lite weight app could run a macro to stop and start your phone...I am not a programmer though so someone with experience please let us know if this is possible

I would imagine that this would be impossible unless it came from Apple. When the device is shut down, it uses no battery and doesn't process anything. The BlackBerry must have some hardwire circuitry that permits this. If an App is running (Jailbroken or not) then the iPhone is on.

My 2 cents

I was thinking about this a bit more... my last BB has two power off settings. Off and Full Off. With Full off the the auto on would not work either (if I remember right) But when just off it would turn the wireless radio off, apps, screen, and not allow incoming anything.

When I put the iPhone in sleep mode it will still allow all signals to wake it up.

maybe what I am looking for is a feature that would shut everything down until the alarm kicks it back on (so not to be woken up in the middle of the night buy a phone ringer or message notifier.

OK- so if anyone has any suggestions please chime in.

Bump

I think more of what you are looking for is what I'm looking for. A way to have a simple switch (maybe in SBSettings) that would have "Notification Profiles" (I remember having these long ago on the Crackberry).

That way I could have a "Day" and "Night" profile. Day would be my chosen ringers and vibrate mode, night would be all ringers and vibrate silenced.

The phone already goes into sleep mode, so I'm not sure what more could be done.

There is one other alternative to keep it from waking during the night from "signals"... Put it in Airplane Mode when you go to sleep. Alarms will still work in airplane mode, but no network signals (Cell or WiFi) will get through to ruin your beauty sleep.

Perhaps is someone came up with a timer for Airplane Mode THAT would be the ultimate. The only problem is that you would have to run "Insomnia" for it to prevent the iPhone from sleeping and that would cost you almost all of your battery overnight (unless you keep it plugged in).

If Push Notification ever shows up, I'm sure that will be a way to do it.

Actually I was talking with some friends last night and they suggested that to me...So I tried it and it was perfect. Put it into airplane mode, pushed the sleep button and all was good.
