iPhone 3G Dock

So I am in the market for a dock. Not the official Apple dock though. First of all it's 40 bucks (well I GUESS I can deal with that price if need be). More what I want is how they have those ipod speakers that have dock adapters. My case (switcheasy rebel) came with a dock adapter and it works just great (test in bestbuy on the bose speakers) but what I want is just a dock. Apple made their dock unable to accept adapters. Why they would do something like that is beyond me. I woud rather deal with no dock than having to remove my case every time.
No love huh? I fear the damn thing just doesn't exist. Wonder why? Does nobody find it useful?
