EDIT: i posted this:
now adays, the army is merely a support and supply division for the marines. everyone knows that.
marines do all the fighting now. its been that way for a few years.
army guns are only used to protect supply chains and ammo depots.
actual fighting is done by marines.
i was there, i know!
but i was corrected by an old army buddy
turns out, as of the last few years (thanks to iraq) the army has grown as far as infantry is concerned.
alot of marines are saying that depending on the mission, they are being paired with certain army divisions.
seems i was wrong.
also, the eagle scouts means nothing to the military (any more, used to count but now its history) only two ways to "jump" paygrades.
enlist 1-3 friends (and they have to complete bootcamp)
or finish top of yur class in bootcamp.
to the guy that said its not that hard to be a sniper,
you are crazy!
thinkin you will be anything in the military other than infantry is a shot in a million.
you do realize that the percentage of the military that is in any type of special unit is less than a tenth of 1 percent.
thats like winning the lottery, getting bitten by a shark, and struck by lightning in your rectum.
hell even the seals training starts with 250 guys and only 25 finish, then they start 3 years of extra training, of which only 3 of the 25 finish.
to the guy saying he appreciates the military but hates their treatment after serving, i totally agree!
but i do feel the military has become a pawn machine for the rich to play their war games over fossil fuels.
i love these guys for what they do, but i hate the reasones that they have to.
and you kids saying you would pick your service based on the cool uniforms,
OMG!
you do realize, the only times you wear the "cool" uniforms is 1-3 times a year for military ceremonies
or
weddings and funerals. (the same in my book)
otherwise, in war, they all look the same.
plus they arent as much of a tang magnet during wartime as they are during peace time. weird, i know.
seems they love us when we volunteer and hate us when we do our job.
hey, take what you can get! right?
lastly, i hate how people applaud the government for their,
"gotta break a few eggs to make an omelet" approach,
but get mad when their son, daughter, mom, dad, or they themselves are the egg!
