I was messing around with bootcamp..decided to boot up Windows and run PCSuite..after loading phone daemon on pcsuite..it recognizes some of the features on my 3G...So, i thought i would try to load my modded sms-received ringtones...and it worked.

I am not sure exactly what would be the directory to these tones, but if you do a search on here you should be able to find it..and ssh your tone to it. Something to do with UISounds i think.

Anyhow, good luck....but for sure PCSuite worked for me.

Rename your modded tone to one of these (sms-received1.caf) and load it...then on the phone, goes to settings/sounds/new text message/ and check the sound that you just loaded...it should work.


sms-received1.caf -> Tri-tone
sms-received2.caf -> Chime
sms-received3.caf -> Glass
sms-received4.caf -> Horn
sms-received5.caf -> Bell
sms-received6.caf -> Electronic

The path for all the audio UI sounds is

/System/Library/Audio/UISounds


You can also change alot in there like the sound that the touchtones make and so on.

you can change your mail sounds too. Lock screen and all heh.

Been using this folder since 1.1.1 heh
