Mac development alternatives?

I have a new Gateway FX laptop. I have tried Kalyway 10.5.2 and a few other releases and no dice getting it working on my laptop. My Wireless card is not support (Intel based Wireless) and my newer Nvidia 9800 GTS video card isnt supported either so its brutally slow and no internet access.
I am trying to get a environment setup to start working on iPhone development. I currently boot 64 bit Vista Home Premium and Ubuntu 7.10 but unable to find the best way to get started either with the SDK or Toolchain for 2.1.
Anyone have suggestions to get an alternative development environment setup or ways to try to get OSX86 running on my laptop? I have tried VM ware but again, that was super slow and really hard to do anything on.
