Well this is terrific... Has anyone seen this yet? I'm really disappointed and am holding out for plenty of 3rd party support even more now...

Late last night some eagle-eyed Engadget readers spotted some disparities in Apple's international sites, with some claiming the iPod touch would be able add calendar appointments with its calendar app, and others omitting that language. We got in touch with our people down in Cupertino who just confirmed the (somewhat) bad news is real: "Like current iPods, the touch can only view calendar entries created on your computer". In other words, no, you can't make new calendar entries on the fly. Why Apple would want to remove this simple feature that's already built into the mobile OS X calendar experience is really beyond us, but we guess they're doing their damnedest to draw the line in the sand between iPod and iPhone. Still, makes you wonder what other minor, useful features Apple pulled from the touch.

Apple Softens Stance on iPhone Coders (PC Magazine)

iPhone native application developers, take heart: Apple doesn't hate you. And now you have a whole new device to play with.

A couple of PC Magazine folks met with Apple marketing honcho Greg Joswiak yesterday to talk about the new iPods, and thrillingly, he had some answers to interesting questions.

First of all, the iPod Touch and iPhone use the same software platform - they're both running OS X on basically the same hardware, Joswiak said. My interpretation: They're the same platform the way a Mac Mini and Power Mac are the same platform. What Greg didn't say, but I surmise, is that means apps for the iPhone will likely work on the iPod Touch.

The iPod Touch does not have Bluetooth. Any images on the Internet that may have implied that it did were errors, Joswiak said. Also, there are no games coming for the iPod Touch right now. Read the rest of this post at Gearlog : "Apple Softens Stance on iPhone Coders"

What's difference of buying it off of Apple ? why would u wanna buy it from walmart? if u will have a problem.. walmart wont be tehre for u, most likely they wont... i rather stick with the Apple store if i were to buy one

I would definitly take the touch over the iphone. The apps (aside from camera, phone, sms) that are on the iphone could easily be ported to the touch. Plus look at it this way
Minimum Yearly Cost:
$299 for 8 gb touch
$1,239 for the 8gb iPhone

Is sms, camera and phone really worth paying 900 more?
