Um.. not to be belligerent, but why? WeDict .41 recognizes all installed dictionaries soon as it's run and searches them all. Are you saying if we use your WeDict, we have to add each and every dictionary to your prefs?

If you have two sources that both list the same program, and they both offer different version, you are always going to get an upgrade notice reguardless.

It works by looking at the version number of the program, if its not what the source has, it will say upgrade, even if the number is higher or lower. Just a bug that needs to be fixed by the installer devs.

It only takes a few seconds to add your dictionary(s) and you only need to do it one time. After that it remembers. No biggie.

I just installed this version, and there is one advantage immediately evident to me. Being able to add and delete dictionaries in the prefs allows me to limit my results to my dictionaries of choice. I have quite a few installed, but I rarely want to see the results from all of them. Also, spongebobiwan is correct that it's no big deal... just a couple of clicks, only once if you always want them all on.

I'm just a common sense kinda guy, if I don't want results from a dictionary, I un-install it. Otherwise it just takes up valuable space. And to me, having to do nothing at all is always better than going through unnecessary steps. But to each his own I guess.

I have English-Spanish , Bovier law, and Web1913 installed (among others). Generally I want results from only 1 of those for a given word, but that doesn't mean that for a different word or situation I won't want one of the others.

eurisko why dont you try it first instead of spitting out nonsense. Common sense? People have multiple dictionaries for different purposes. Maybe I don't want my encyclopedia popping up when I want the drug information or maybe I'm looking up an element and I don't want the dictionaries version. The point is that people use these dictionaries and don't need every single "dict" files input for every single word they type. It depends on the situation, for me it depends on the class (I turn dictionaries off and on based on which class I am in). Some people dont like going through pages and pages of information to find the appropriate description that fits their needs at that moment. And all it takes is clicking the I button and tapping on a dictionary to check and uncheck.

Oh yea i have 12 dictionaries I frequently use.

Its working fine here, though as laoren mentioned, it's quite large. Naturally the vocabulary is somewhat limited, but it's a pretty cool addition. To check whether it's working, just enter a word that you can see inside one of the WyabdcRealPeopleTTS folders.

yeah, the user selectable dictionary preference screen was much needed. i had various multi-lingual dictionaries installed and having to dig thru all the entries at times was tiresome.

Personal attacks will get you nowhere fast. I said in my last post to each his own, so leave it at that. And fyi I did try it first, and the i button to enter the prefs is poorly designed so it takes several attempts just to get into it, and is therefore a waste of time in my opinion. I'll stick with the original, and you can keep your derogatory comments to yourself.

There is a link provided earlier in this thread so you can download the pronunciations library, but be warned, it's around 200MB. This is because it's simply a bunch of .wav files which correspond with the words you enter. I'm going to crunch it tonight into .aac files and see how much smaller this makes it.

Oh...GOOD idea. Let us know how you make out with that please.

I could sure use an English-Italian and Italian-English dictionary. None on installer yet, but perhaps there is another source that somebody knows about?

It's called "Fuzzy Logic". Google and many other search engines use it, like if you spell "Aplle" it'll say "Did you mean Apple?". I'd love to see this too, it's not very hard to incorporate.
