Nope, T-Mobile 3G and AT&T 3G are not compatible due to different frequencies.

Apple - "3G iPhone supports UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz)."

T-Mobile - "Our 3G network supports both the 1700MHz and 2100MHz frequencies."

So, wont it work on 2100MHz?

I guess I might have to just go get the damn thing to see for sure. I live in the Seattle area and everything I read says T-Mobile will have 3G in my area around mid October. But its already here!! I'm dying to find out if it will work for sure.

I just got off the phone with T-Mobile and they said there shouldn't be any problem with the 3G iPhone on their 3G network. I didn't think they would actually say that. They only said it had to be unlocked first.

Posiedon, I see you have 3G network available. Just curious if you have actually tried it?

Thats probably because most places do not have T-Mobile 3G.

if you searched you would know that both signals are used, one for 3G uploading and one for downloading. Its worthless with only one of the bands.
