I have a 1st gen iPhone running on 2.1. It's unlocked and jailbroken. I have a t-mobile sim. Can't connect to the Internet !! I have the $19 data plan. Please help.

Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data Network
APN for $19.99 = internet2.voicestream.com
APN for $5.99 = epc.tmobile.com

so I don't have to mess with the settings ? Just just putting it in DFU mode will solve my problem ?

HUH?! DFU mode instructions are my Forum signature. And yes you have to mess with your settings for your data connection to work. If you want to pay $19 for your internet use the corresponding APN as listed above.

when I go into settings then network, I don't see the APN settings ? All I see is VPN. Am I retarded ?

Follow Poseidon's instructions - Click on Cellular Data Network to get to the APN settings. Enter the corresponding APN, depending on which data plan you have and leave username and password blank...

You need to install "APN Editing" version 1.0 by Linux_insidev2 in Cydia.
