The hack still works, however, I have two bits of advice. Sometimes I need to reboot my iPhone in order get Edge working; after the phone has been put to sleep or I've used WiFi. Also I'd load up "NetServices" by Greg Hartstein. It's helpful to see the IP assigned to you iPhone. If the IP shows as a 10.x.x.x ip, then you know Edge is working.

Thx for the quick reply Dennis.

So in order for me use the edge I have to restart the phone... damn that would be really annoying. How often is sometimes? (restart the phone).

I thought Edge stay's on all the time?

Its a very good deal if Edge stays on all the time without have to restart the phone. I am only buying iPhone just to pay less with tmobile for the internet and still enjoy all the features, except the visual voicemail.

Can some other tmobile users confirm this?

tzones is just for regular phones.... weather, n stuff like that plain text i guess u could say... but the 20 dollar one is like the one with att cingulars plan for iphone....

Ok I am gonna say it straight out that I am noob to this whole thing of modding a ifone and getting it work right wioth edge and having all the options with t mobile which is the service I have.

Now I need some help, you guys explained exactly how to do everything but I am having some difficulty understanding it. Like when you say explore mobile and under privet/var/root... I am already lost like what do i do this with? the iphone? my comp? i have no clue. I have to figure this edge thing out and than I want some backrounds and ringtones and I dont know how to go about doing that with the summerboard and all using ibricker? Some much info and I dont know how it all comes together.

Please you guys gotta help me i am really commited to making this work but I need some guidance and explanation. Thank You in advance.

for me before i did a change to my plan... it was working with just putting the apn and all the stuff... but know it dont work... n i try this (modding the files) n also didnt work...

I just spent the weekend down in ABQ, and Edge worked GREAT. I'm willing to bet that since I like out in the middle of no-where New Mexico , most of my EDGE issues are due to sucky cell coverage.

EDGE works, slow, but it works, is it worth $6 a month, hard to say, I spend that on lunch, so you have to make the call for yourself.

Web browsing works on the $6 plan, so don't waste your money with the higher cost plan(s)

1. explore your mobile and under

/private/var/root

you need a to copy a file called "proxy.pac"

create a file by opening a notepad and cut and copy this code

(if by exploring your phone you dont see the change in file name ,download mobile finder on your mobile thorugh ibrickr and rename it on your iphone itself....)

After Copying download the file below

just use ibrickr if u are using 1.0.2 but if you have 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 use winscp on ur computer. if u r gonna use winscp ur iphone has to have ssh installed. the username is root and password is alpine the host name is your ip address, just go to settings wifi click on the little blue arrow it will tell you

anyway can anyone confirm if this works on tmobile prepaid (USA)

you can just go to setting ,general ,network ,edge and delete apn usernaame and password and at apn type in wap.voicestream.com and it will work and go to installer and install edge fix
