MMS requires data download. Text can be sent via circuit switched or GPRS but it's still just text, no extra file is executed or displayed. The most harm I could see a text message ever doing is having something embedded in the message header which triggers malicious code already residing on your device. The key there being malicious code
already running so the text message itself still would not have a virus in it.
