my fully customized, themed, video recording, piano playing, image saving, soul seeking, font swapping 1.1.4 ziPhoned/pwned iPhone is ttally much more fierce than any new 3G right now, and why? because when I first got my iPhone to jailbreak, I had to go through all of the tedious and wrenching steps through the terminal and MacPorts, and iPhone disks, and ssh, and chmodding and blah blah blah to learn what was necessary to get into the innards of the damn gadget. It's my phone right, well in the year that I have had this 4GB iphone, I have installed and reinstalled, and jailbreaked, pwned, bricked, overloaded, ripped it apart and put int back together software-wise that, I have come to know for a fact, you really can't hurt it. Unless you throw it against the wall, or drive over it with your car, you can always reinstall the firmware, and be successful...IF and ONLY if you are not afraid, and can actually follow directions, and maybe just maybe LEARN what you have to do to make it yours through code and open source.
HEY you paid for the phone, in essence you don't really need Apple's firmware to make it work at all. Unix and Linux and the basic binary yadayada could actually guide to a place where you make your our firmware, DEVELOP your own iPhone, or YouPhone, or My-eye-fone!
Please... is GMS really all that anyway, if you look up there is still the iSUN which rises in the East and sets in the WEST, and there are still Rand McNally Maps, and the effen Radio...
Oh and Steve Jobs is rich enough already isn't he, and that is coming from a person that has 1 MacBook, a 15" MacBook Pro, 3 17" MacBook Pros, 1 4GB, 1 8GB, iPhones & 1 16GB iPhone3G...GarageBand Remix Tools, iLife 08, MacOSX 10.5, renewed .mac/MobileME account, developer status, and every SDK known to man...
It took US to get him that rich, and the least you can do is be free to use the Phone the way you want to...
& Don't forget it is still illegal to be a MONOPOLY in the phone industry.
ATT/Cingular/MA BELL is still the same, (Alexander Graham Bell creation) that it was since the beginning...when the iPhone was just two soup cans and a long cord...
One person at one end trying to communicate to someone who hasn't learned to SPEAK into the can for fear they'd make a fool of themself!
Do you think anyone cares that you can't talk on the iPhone when you have bricked it? I mean you still have the iPod, the Camera, the Calendar, the Email Client, the weather, the WIFI, the Alarm Clock, the.........................................
Good luck people... ROCK on 1.1.4 users who didn't upgrade nor have to downgrade, baseband erase again like September 2007, January 2008...
