VLC Media Player, the popular, cross-platform, open-source media player comes to the iPhone as a beta release, courtesy of Zodttd. (http://www.zodttd.com) The program is in beta at present, accessible to Zodttd's select group of beta testers. To become a beta tester, simply donate via his site. This will give you access to Zodttd's betas as they become available. (Definitely a sound investment!) On other platforms, VLC Media Player provides users with the ability to play virtually any type of media file. Native Application to post journal entries to the LiveJournal website (http://www.livejournal.com) LiveJournal is a native journal entry application. Overall, it's a fairly simple app, however its power lies not in the interface itself, but in its associated website online. When you first load the application, it will advise you to enter your LiveJournal login ID and password. If you don't already have one, head over to the LiveJournal website and sign up for free. Once you enter these details, the application will present you with the Settings page. Here you can define things like default tags, auto formatting, and a variety of defaults. Version 0.2.0 provides additional settings that are not yet active. These include detect music and location, personal FTP, and PIN Security. Raptor is a dashboard for web apps and other useful websites. Opening the application provides you with a listing of 'popular' sites and web-applications. These include: • Google • TV Guide • Wikipedia • Exchange Rates • AOL Horoscopes • Stitcher Radio • iFeeder • Pollen Report • FaceBook • 101 Cook Books • iZillow There's another option to 'Request App', however this feature is reserved for those who have donated to the application's developer, and thus became a 'Premium' user. In addition to the listed 'links' above, the app features 'Browser' functionality. Tapping on the Browser button provides you with a text box to input a site name. The browser is similar to Safari, however lacks the title bar. Double-Tapping on the bottom of the screen brings up a menu with several options; including Google, Load URL, Home, and Cancel.
